PhpGedView updates to 4.2.0

PhpGedView, the genealogy program, has updated to 4.2.0. They fixed the bug in the RSS feed, and added a few bells and whistles. But it’s still the same basic program.

I would say the changes are more security-related and cosmetic. Nevertheless, it’s worth an upgrade.

WordPress 2.7: High-maintenance?

I must say I’m baffled by what the coders were thinking when they launched WordPress; in particular, 2.7.1. It works, then it doesn’t work.

Fixing the problems when converting from WordPress 2.6 can be frustrating but, fortunately, are survivable. If you are patient.

Fixing Joomla server folder permissions

Constantly having problems installing Joomla plug-ins and/or extensions because of folder permissions on your server?

Well, if you’re tired of trying to find a solution, here’s one that really works one: It’s a PHP script you can make that sits at the base of your server’s Joomla installation. You CHMOD the file to 0755 when you’re ready to use it, and CHMOD it back to 444 when you’re done installing your plug-in or extension.
