Snowball fight: Off-duty cop points gun

Los Angeles - A fun-filled massive snowball fight suddenly became potentially dangerous after an undercover D.C. police officer became involved in a verbal altercation with a group of snowball fighters and allegedly pulled out his gun.

During Washington's record-breaking snowstorm on Saturday, about 200 people from a D.C. neighborhood gathered at the corner of 14th and U streets to participate in a massive snowball fight organized by Twitter users, CNN affiliate WJLA reported.

Snowfight turned furious
The adult men and women were laughing and hurling fresh-fallen snow at one another in the middle of the street, but a good-natured romp in the snow soon turned scary when a cop in plain dress appeared in the scene.

Man arrested for allegedly calling 911 for sex

TAMPA - Tampa Police say Joshua Basso called 911 early Wednesday morning. But this was no emergency; at least not as far as police were concerned.

"He called up and asked her if she had a nice chest area, to put it in politically correct terms," according to Laura McElroy with The Tampa Police Dept.

Basso they say, was looking for sex. He made approximately four attempts to get it by calling 911.

Here is a snippet of the call:

Operator: Tampa Police, 911, what's your emergency?
Caller: What's up? Um, can I talk to you for a sec?
Caller: What are you wearing?
Caller: You got a nice butt?

Florida volunteers clean up home, fill huge Dumpster with rotting furniture, debris

SUNRISE, FLORIDA -Debra Higgins' property in Sunrise got a makeover Saturday.

She didn't win a contest. But because she owes more than $600,000 in fines on her home for code violations, the city volunteered to lend her a hand -- many hands. in fact.

More than a dozen volunteers from the city, police and police Explorers spent their morning at 9352 NW 24th Pl., filling up a 40-yard dumpster with rotting furniture, vegetation and debris.

They also removed a four-foot beehive where an estimated 90,000 honeybees made a home, Sunrise City Commissioner Larry Sofield said.

Bathroom break leads to burglary charges for couple

CITRUS COUNTY FLA. - A bathroom break on Saturday led to the arrest of a Hernando couple for the burglary of a Floral City Laundromat. It’s what happened before and after the bathroom break that got them both into trouble with the law. They’re accused of taking a coin machine and a toolbox from the business, located at 8480 S. Florida Ave. Arrested at 3:16 a.m. near the Citrus County Speedway were Todd Watson Kemerer, 24, and April L. Bowers, 30, both of 3530 E. Brave Lane South, Hernando. A deputy responding to the report of a burglary in progress at the business was told by a witness that he walked outside to investigate a loud noise and saw a man, later identified as Kemerer, with his black shirt pulled over his head and walking out of the laundromat’s front door with a large coin machine. The witness said he saw Kemerer put the machine in the trunk of his two-door Buick sedan and drive away, headed north on U.S. 41. Write comment (0 Comments)

Flying jumbo squid rough up divers in San Diego

Giant squid off San Diego

Divers off the coast of San Diego were minding their own business, splashing around in the ocean last week when all of the sudden they found themselves confronted by giant flying, squid, hundreds of them some literally jumping out of the water around them.
